There’s something unique about exploring a country by motorbike. Not only is it a self-guided form of transport, offering complete freedom as driving by car does, but it’s a much more visceral experience than driving a car, putting you at arms-length of the road and the elements.
So, Voyager Insurance have come up with their 5 popular motorcycle holidays around the world, to inspire you for your adventure motorcycle holiday.
This 3 – 5 day loop in the highlands in the North of Vietnam bordering China is both an exhilarating ride and packed with stunning scenery.
While it is doable in 3 days, it is generally recommended by previous people who have done the tour to do it in 4 or 5 days with an additional day excursion, this trip can made to suit your time frame.
With some of Vietnam’s most dangerous roads, featuring hairpin bends, twisting mountain paths, a ‘sky path’ barely wider than the bike itself and much more, you won’t find this a boring ride, so it might just be as well to take your time doing it. What’s more, you can expect to see terraced rice paddies, lush mountains, waterfalls, the valley between the Vietnamese and Chinese border and tiny villages and towns. You will also have the opportunity to stay at local homestays overnight and try traditional Northern Vietnamese Food and locally made rice wine.
This is a 1,600-mile route passing through both Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland, down the length of the West Coast from Derry to Cork.
Expect to visit fantastic cities and towns including Derry, Galway, Limerick and Cork to name a few, as well as stunning scenery the entire length of the trip. Expect to be witness to cliffs, rolling hills, beaches, peninsulas, with opportunities to surf, hike, visit small coastal towns and Viking heritage and ancient monuments. Plus, incredible sunsets every night, as you’ll be making your way down the west coast.
You could even combine this with the Irish North Coast Drive, heading 130 miles north from Belfast, allowing you to see the Giant’s Causeway, Castles, Tievebulliagh mountain and Glenariff Forest Park.

This is a 65 mile loop of various tracks in the San Juan Mountains of Colorado. Perfect for the adventurous, don’t expect well paved roads, but do expect an exciting ride and an incredible journey for off-road bikers.
The trails are only accessible in the summer months, and there is a lot to see other than the exciting trails and mountainous scenery. The trails are largely consisting of old mining roads, and thus are often a stone’s throw away from abandoned mines, railways and ghost towns to explore. Furthermore, there are stunning natural landscapes such as winding rivers, forests, lakes and natural hot springs.
